It seems like Bayside has done nothing but tour since the release of their last album. I know that I personally saw them 4 times in the past year and I didn't even go to all of the tours that they were on. That's some crazy work ethic.
What's even crazier is that it looks like they're only going to take 2 months off to record their new album before they go back on tour on October 7th.
Insanity.
Even still I'm pretty excited since Bayside puts out unbelievably amazing music and a show that does not dissapoint.
So Last.fm has granted my lowly nonsubscriber self access to their new website design that is currently in beta.
Things I like:
- The Organization in general
- the 'dashboard' is way less annoying. YAY!
- My Library is pretty cool and very user friendly.
- Yay for seeing your "loved tracks"
- Adding descriptions to the track profiles (although this might get used for lyrics and for some reason last.fm used to be very ANTI that)
- Radio's seem awesome and intuitive. PLUS more full songs??!
Things I don't like:
- how comments CONSUME the page.... seriously. I cut these down. It goes on for MILES.
- I'm MEH about the activity feeds... I mean I don't think people need to know all the events I create. Cause I kinda do that all the time.
- I'm also MEH to the fact that you can add an artist to you "library" even if you haven't scrobbled them.
- taste-o-meter is horrifically bland now.
- how web 2.0 or 3.0 they are trying to be.
ps. the strikethroughs just means that it's not ready yet. not that they are not doing them.

if i had the availability / live in the NY area. i would sign up for this.
because i'm that type of person.
... aren't you?
Our Mission
The Hype Machine is here to make music discovery fun and get artists paid.
How does it work?
The Hype Machine tracks a variety of MP3 blogs. If a post contains MP3 links, it adds those links to its database and displays them on the front page.
Some of the frequently accessed tracks are cached by the Hype Machine server, much like Google Search caches web pages, to reduce load on the bloggers' servers and protect their bandwidth.
Those tracks are NOT available for download, but you can preview them via the play buttons that are next to each track.
The blog that posted a particular track is identified under every track by name so you can read more about why they posted it. If you enjoyed a track someone posted, stop by and let them know!
You can purchase CDs and individual tracks by using the "amazon" and "itunes" links that appear next to most tracks. Each purchase you make via the Amazon and iTunes links supports both the artists and the Hype Machine. Please buy and enjoy.
nope i didn't watch.
i just now did as much as i was going to do by checking out the performances on youtube and then finding out the winners to the main category winners.
first off: the performances this year? amazing. surprisingly i cared the least about the Foo Fighters (followed by Amy Winehouse). Kanye's was just amazing with Daft Punk making an appearance and then his heartfelt tribute to his Mom. Not to mentiont that Tina and Beyonce kicked some ass.
BUT ALL OF THIS WAS FORGOTTEN WHEN I FOUND OUT WHO WON RECORD OF THE YEAR.
REHAB???!!! over UMBRELLA??!!! where have the judges been the last year. That. Just. Astounds. Me.
AND BEST ALBUM....
Who owns this River: The Joni Letters by Herbie Hancock? I would like to meet them. okay okay, i have never heard the cd... apparently the world is back into Jazz (and hey i'm cool with that but giving a guy the win because he's been around forever isn't the same as deserving it..)
okay i'm done ranting. seriously if you haven't watched kanye's performance you need to.

UPDATE: 04/27/08 at the pepsi center for me. laaammmeeeeee. i loathe arena tours.

What were your top 10 favorite songs or albums of 2007?
when making list and such i always have a really hard time with it. lists give a sense of finality which is hard for me to commit to. but here it goes since i said i would. these will probably not be in order. you can't make me commit that much... (edit) and apparently you can't make me choose 10 either.
Anberlin - Cities. Maybe it's because I really just discovered the band this year but the cd combined with an amazing live show definitely makes me feel like it should go on this list. The album itself is amazing and to be on my list it has to be something i can listen through from start to finish without wanting to skip songs. It's always very hard for me to define music since I try to appreciate each to it's own merits but I can say that this one has a classic quality that I know will never make the songs boring.
The Arcade Fire - Neon Bible. I was slow to get into it. But after a while this album proves itself to be amazing. All of the songs are interesting and have the option of depth which can make you think as much (or as little) as you want. You can just enjoy the music or really contemplate the lyrics.
Lily Allen - Alright, Still. Yep I love it. It's a great album and every song is catchy, perfectly dance able too and has enough variety to fit your different moods. I love her voice and I was blown away when she does a cover of Kaiser Chiefs "Oh My God" that stands up to the original but is completely different at the same time.
