Hawthorne Heights with... Stroke 9... seriously.
Yep. This is what my alumnus school got for their Spring Concert (which was free to students but I heard it was something like $20 for a ticket??) Well that didn't go over so well because of poor planning and I heard they were trying to give them away so that more people would show up.
At any rate I had to drive 2 hours to the concert. Got there at 8pm and Stroke 9 had just started I guess (doors were at 6??). We tried to get on the floor and they told us they were out of wristbands and that we couldn't. ACTUALLY it was that they had 2 wristbands and, since we were 3, I just stared at them and then laughed.
I'm always amazed at how shitty the State Event Center is. I forget and then they remind me. Good times. So I start calling my friends that are working the concert so that I can get a frelling pass when I attempt to just walk in on the other side and the lady starts to put up a fight but then is like "Oh go ahead." Thanks lady.
So we're on the floor (where it's not crowded.at.all.) and Stroke 9 is playing and I'm honestly amazed they are still around as a band. They aren't BAD but they just stood there. I know that we weren't really giving them all we got either but I expect more from a band. Sorry guys. Some kids did get into jumping around and screaming for the songs most people remember but that was about it. And then they played My Name Is Jonas... they started playing the first couple notes and I gave my friend a "wtf? is that Weezer they are playing?" look and she didn't believe me. I was like "Uh they are about to say it." Sure enough they did. I may have rocked out during that song.
Hawthorne Heights came out and they kept thanking us for being there. Wow. Um. Thanks you guys. For reals. I felt bad for them dealing with a low turn out crowd like this (pretty sure we took them out of the studio for it) and they were thanking us? You got to give them props I guess. They played all the well known songs and even some of the 'fan favorites'. They also played 2 new songs from the new cd that will come out this summer sometime. I'll buy the cd when it comes out but the problem with HH live is that all the songs sound so similar it's hard to distinguish between them when the soundguy is being an idiot and has the lead mic low and the backup high.
Both bands only played for an hour each. No encore. Apparently HH was flying back the same night. So yes. My old school flew them out and back just to play for the smallest crowd I've ever seen (for the spring concert).
