Went to a local show last night. it was a cd release party for this girl/group called tifah and it was pretty amazing. All 4 bands were just great but they each had there own sound even though they all seemed to feature keyboards... is that just a Colorado thing? Is that what we're going to be known for?
The Jimi Austin was first and they were really good... if i were to compare them to someone it'd be kind of.. okay i suck at comparing people. listen for yourself.
The banter in between songs was pretty good too..if you can rate that... overall they give a decent performance and will probably win you over if you catch them.
Next up was The Heyday. They were by far the most pop oriented but still really good. I didn't get there demo though..so sadly only pics for you..yes i haven't been into vid as much (it freezes my phone and i have to search for a pen to reboot). Alot of scenesterish looking kids were there just for them so they are getting pretty big I guess.. they were really good and I really was disappointed to not get the demo's they were handing out.
Colour to the Mast was really good, had a very copeland meets mars volta feel? If that makes sense.. They were very experimental but at the same time had a very melodic sound. The only drawback was that they weren't like hyper excited but the music isn't really for that so i didn't think much of it...yet somehow my pictures for them came out the best..so i have alot.
Tifah was pretty amazingly good. They are a very eclectic band with a piano, violin, guitar, bass/upright bass, and drums. Her voice is very pretty and kind of reminded me a bit of Tori Amos or something... *shrug*
They probably had the most mellow stage presence, they all seemed to love the music but didn't really..get into it? Except the violinist. she went crazy at times. But still you could feel that they really did love the music; which is always good. It was kinda cute because I could hear the guitarist singing along to himself even though he doesn't do vocals.
