Sounds a lot like shazam but for people that don't have / want to download an application on the iphone. A cool twist is that this also works for commercials as well; meaning if I heard about something I wanted to buy I could 'nabbit' and it would be stored for me to deal with when I get home.
The thing I don't like about this app (which I have admittedly not used) is that it claims "Nabbit does not charge a fee for our service. You will only be charged if you decide to purchase a song or product that you Nabb." So... it's not free? Very confusing.
I also watched the video to use the product and it only works for radio stations. So unlike Shazam you are out of luck if you just randomly hear the song somewhere because for Nabbit to work you need to know the station.
Overall it's just not a good enough contender against Shazam but it does let others who don't have an iPhone the opportunity to get sort of the same thing.
A quick rundown I immediately notice that they are missing clear channels application "iheartradio" but they seemed to hit the big contenders.
And of course I'd be on the lookout for when Lala.com releases their application. That's going to be a big one since it's letting you access your own library from anywhere. That might blow the rest of them away.
Similar to what I'm doing... but hopefully one day I will get around to reviewing all of the ones I link to as well. Right now there has been so many I can't seem to keep up.
100+ Music Links to play around with
I did notice they didn't include one of my fav video sites - http://www.blogotheque.net/ "A Take Away Show." Personally my favorite music sites are the ones that seem to bring something new to the table, not rehashing the same thing you can find everywhere else.
Stereofame is a social music game that brings fans and artists together and empowers artists and listeners to determine what's hot by creating virtual record labels.
The object of the game is to get as many points as you can so you can cash them in on great rewards. Additionally, artists are able to get the recognition they deserve for great songs through listener voting. Listeners are able to get the recognition they deserve by discovering great talent. It's all about music, fame, and the game!
Interesting way to get people to listen to new music; definitely something to check out.
"Qloud provides the music experience users want: unlimited, on-demand, free music from an endless library. Qloud delivers that experience where users want it: embedded within social networks where they can discover and share through their friends."
It looks like they are trying to be more social networks based than a stand alone. Which is an interesting idea; especially since it's hard to convince friends to join random websites but everyone you know has a facebook...
Speaking of Our Stage... I realized I hadn't posted about the site yet. So here you go..
Experience the thrill of music discovery. OurStage gives you the power to decide who should top the charts in 50+ music genres, from Rock to Electronic, Rap to Country. At Kerchoonz everyone can play and everybody wins. Kerchoonz is the social network that pays musicians every time you listen or download music. Kerchoonz shares advertising revenues generated on artists profiles and their download page so that you can access music freely and also support your favourite artists. It's free for the listeners and it helps give artists what they need to keep making music and support their art: money.
Looks interesting. Just one of the many websites I have on my list to check out. It slightly reminds me of Our Stage (which is also on the list).

Lala.com is a promising concept. 1 part music retail, 1 part music tracking, 1 part music listening = will people get it?
This website is unique because it's main premise is being able to listen to your ENTIRE music collection anywhere you get internet access. The business plan behind this idea is that you can also buy music from the site (and at different listening levels to fit all budgets).
Jul's Likes:
1. Extensive. Unless you only listen to locals that have no internet presence you will find the music you're looking for. I think in the 3 months I've used this service I stumped them once. Not to say that I am some obscure music lover but I do listen to wayyy more than the top 100.
2. They give you 40 free internet songs to start out with. The monetary equivelent of that is something small like 2 dollars but it definitely helps you to decide if you want to stick with the website. and hey. free music.
3. Browsing other people's profiles is really easy and useful (sometimes). Each person gets a 4 song forecast of music they are currently digging on. I find that useful as a person that trend watches. Also, I love playlists. On LaLa you can create and share easily.
Jul's Hates:
1. You only get to try out a song once. ONE TIME. I don't know the kind of people that do that. I need at least 3 plays. And oh hey, last.fm gives you 3 full plays. If you were wondering.
2. I get wary of anything that wants to access and upload my entire musical collection, so I haven't done this yet. That severely limits what I've been able to listen to on the site. I'm worried that when I do I technically lost all of the free songs I got (I have a couple duplicates).
3. Their Social Networking leaves a lot to be desired. This isn't a primary function of their site but they do seem to want you to get into it (with their forecasting tools and ability to 'follow' people.
Our Mission
The Hype Machine is here to make music discovery fun and get artists paid.
How does it work?
The Hype Machine tracks a variety of MP3 blogs. If a post contains MP3 links, it adds those links to its database and displays them on the front page.
Some of the frequently accessed tracks are cached by the Hype Machine server, much like Google Search caches web pages, to reduce load on the bloggers' servers and protect their bandwidth.
Those tracks are NOT available for download, but you can preview them via the play buttons that are next to each track.
The blog that posted a particular track is identified under every track by name so you can read more about why they posted it. If you enjoyed a track someone posted, stop by and let them know!
You can purchase CDs and individual tracks by using the "amazon" and "itunes" links that appear next to most tracks. Each purchase you make via the Amazon and iTunes links supports both the artists and the Hype Machine. Please buy and enjoy.
